Meridianbet, a sports betting and gaming operator and subsidiary of Meridian Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: MRDN), has launched a fully redesigned digital platform in Malta, its longest-standing regulated market. The release marks the most significant product upgrade to the platform since its initial launch, introducing an AI-powered assistant, early payout mechanics, enhanced odds promotions and a redesigned casino interface across mobile and desktop.
The release is the second significant move Meridianbet has made in Malta within this quarter. In January 2026, the company completed the acquisition of Fairbet Ltd. — a licensed retail operator holding MGA license B2C/195/2011 — adding nine retail locations and bringing its total network across Malta and Gozo to 20 storefronts. Together, the two moves reflect a deliberate approach to deepen capability in markets with strict entry standards.
Malta is one such market. The Malta Gaming Authority issues only three retail gaming licenses in the jurisdiction. Meridianbet now holds two of them. The MGA’s licensing process — which includes capital requirements, technical audits and ongoing compliance obligations — functions as a structural barrier that protects the position of fully compliant operators who have already cleared it. For Meridianbet, which has held a licensed presence in Malta since 2008 and ranks among the jurisdiction’s original operators, that barrier works in its favor.
Platform Features
The redesigned platform focuses on mobile performance and streamlined navigation. Four features define the update:
Early Payout: Bets can be settled before a match ends when specific in-game conditions are met.
Bet Boost: Enhanced odds on selected events each day across multiple sports.
Casino Redesign: Improved game discovery and interface across the casino product.
AI Assistant: An in-platform assistant that helps users navigate casino content and build betting tickets based on individual activity and preferences.
"Malta has been central to our operations since 2008, and that continuity matters. We focus on markets with credible regulation and a clear framework for long-term investment," said Zoran Milosevic, CEO of Meridianbet. The platform upgrade and the Fairbet acquisition reflect that same thinking — building depth where we have established presence and regulatory standing.", said Zoran Milosevic, CEO of Meridianbet
Market Context
Malta’s gaming sector operates under MGA oversight, which has established the jurisdiction as one of Europe’s more credible regulatory environments. For operators holding MGA licenses, the framework carries weight beyond the domestic market — MGA-licensed status is widely recognized across European markets and supports broader commercial relationships. Meridianbet’s two-license position in Malta therefore carries strategic value that extends beyond the islands themselves.
The archipelago recorded more than three million visitor arrivals in 2024, according to the National Statistics Office, providing a meaningful tourism-driven revenue layer alongside the domestic market. The platform update is available now via the Meridianbet app and website in Malta.
